NY Housing
So after the ridiculous process and extremely long wait to find out about our acceptance into student housing at Columbia, we find out that we did not get housing! We figured that we had a pretty good chance because we were in priority one out of three and there were only 20 couples in priority one. It just so happens that only the top five on the list were accepted for housing! We were 18 on the list of 20. We were pretty disappointed at first, but hope that this is an opportunity. So far in our search we have not found many differences with living on or off campus except for the location. Cost, size, safety, etc. seem to be about the same. If anyone has any leads to a great apartment in New York, Upper Manhattan area, we would love to hear about it!

Park City Trip
We are making an effort to enjoy the mountains before we head off to the Big Apple! This past week we went on an overnighter to Park City beginning with a major hike up the ski slopes of the Canyons Resort. We honestly hiked straight UP for the whole first hour! It was crazy after we actually thought about it, but it was a lot of fun. We hiked up and got to take the gondola down for free, so we jumped on that deal! We even got away without major injuries, just a few sunburns. The mountains were gorgeous! I wish that we had taken more pictures of them alone, but here are a few of our hiking pictures. We also went up to the Olympic park, which Derek just went crazy with memories. It's always fun to hear the amazing experience he had volunteering for the Olympics. Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures at the Olympic park - we were too enthralled! We even wandered over to the bobsled track where we probably weren't allowed because we saw some Olympians practicing on the Push track! We had a lot of fun despite our sunburns.
Here goes nothing!
Well, Der and I are sort of at a pivitol point in our lives as we prepare to make a big move to New York City for his graduate school. We decided that since we are going to be so far away from friends and family that we should have one more way to keep in contact with them and since blogging is such a big thing lately, it would be a great way to do that. Since we don't have any cute kids to post pictures of, this blog may not be as exciting as others. ;) But I think that Der is pretty cute so we'll post pictures of him (and, of course, our exciting adventures)!
