Well, here it is ... our new home! Because we were beginning to get panicked about finding a place to live in New York, we decided to send Derek to search for housing. He only had three days out there, so we did a lot of praying that it would all work out. It was a very stressful trip, no vacationing! :,( But in the last hours before his plane left, we found this apartment and we got approved! The process for leasing an apartment out there is insane ... they won't lease to you unless you make forty times the amount of your rent and New York rent is not cheap! You can get a co-signer, but they have to make eighty times! Luckily, they let us combine two co-signers' income and pay three months up front and then they would approve us. WHEW! Thank you to our Dad's who were willing to be our co-signers, we owe you big time. Now you have something to hold over our heads. Uh oh. Anyway, despite how stressful it was, we really were blessed to have it all work out and we feel really good about it. Thanks to all of you who sent us info and helps about finding housing or people to contact it really helped us figure out the process and the areas.

Wow, that looks WAY NICE! Good job, guys. I'm glad things worked out...eventually...
that looks nice! congrats. I'm so sad you guys are leaving just as we get back
Yay! I'm glad you guys found a place. Sounds like just in the nick of time too, Derek must've been a mess before finding it. It looks nice, clean, love the floors and appliances, what's the square footage like? Did you have to settle for a studio or is it 1 bedroom?
Way to go! We are excited to see it in person in three weeks. Maybe we ought to have someone in the building reserve a street parking spot for the moving van. Anyway prayer works!!
Hooray! I'm so glad things finally worked out for you guys. You deserve it! The place looks very nice. Is it a one bedroom place?
I was wondering how everything turned out. Hurray for a New York apartment! You're all official now. It looks really nice. Congrats!
I agree guys - it looks great! I was picturing something not nearly as nice! How close is it to things like the grocery store or Target?? :) Do you have a parking spot for your car?
YEAH!!! Good Job Jamie and Derek! Ummm...is there a target in Manhattan Jamie? Is it close to the medical campus or where is it at?
There is actually a brand new Target in Inwood (a neighborhood in Manhattan), which is about 20 blocks north of where we are. The Columbia Medical Center is only 5 blocks from our apartment...so approximately 4.5 minutes to walk there. To answer the other questions, it is a one bedroom apartment. It is probably about 500-600 square feet.
It looks great! And super nice for a NY apartment. Good luck to you guys!
