Before this crazy last semester begins and the baby comes to busy our lives, we decided to take a Babymoon. For those of you who have never heard this term before, it is like a Honeymoon; one last hoorah before reality and responsibility hit you.
It was a pretty fast getaway, but oh so needed! We began by driving to Boston with Ben, Tanelle and the kids. We camped near Boston for a couple of nights taking a boat into the harbor. Boston was such a pretty and clean city. We had always heard that you won't want to live in New York City after visiting Boston and sad to say, but it is true! The city is so nice with the old architecture and history but without the dirty city streets. After Boston, Der and I split from the group and drove back towards home where we made a quick IKEA stop for baby furniture (nursery-area pics to come), a romantic meal at Olive Garden (thanks to the gift card from Malia) and a quiet evening of some quick sleep before the early morning to catch our bus to Washington, DC. We spent the next day and a half in DC where we saw nearly all that we wanted to. We saw the White House, Capitol, National Archives (Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration, etc), Washington and Lincoln monuments, Ford's Theatre where Lincoln was assassinated, Arlington National Cemetery (tomb of the unknown soldiers and JFK's grave), many national government buildings and the Holocaust and American History museums. As we were at the Cemetery, we saw CNN, TV news cameras and realized that it was setting up for Ted Kennedy's funeral on saturday... pretty cool (not that he died, but that we were at the Cemetery just days before his funeral).
Anyway, although our trip was quick, we really enjoyed it and each other's company after such a busy working summer. Der has been working like a true New Yorker with a schedule of seven to seven every day. So this was a much needed break. View our slideshows for all the pics of our adventure.

Your trip looks amazing! And I have to agree-Boston's incredible. However, I must admit that I enjoy Philadelphia even more than Boston. Having never been to DC, I am extremely jealous.
How cool! That is a fun little adventure. Our last little hoorah before the baby comes was our getaway to St. George especially since school has started and work isn't slowing down! Jamie--were you really chowing down on a huge cucumber?! How random! You look cute though! 2 months from today!! :)
I'm impressed that you had a last hurrah! We didn't because of Colby's schooling. Cute baby belly!!
Holy crap Jamie, you're really going to have a baby aren't you? Guess it just hasn't seemed as real because we haven't seen you in so long. You look cute though! That's really fun you guys got some down time like that...can't wait for your busy time though ;)
It sounds like you guys had a great time! You'll be REALLY glad you took one last vacation before the baby's here. Sean and I have been trying to go out every single chance we have- even if it's just to a fast food place, since who knows when we'll get to alone again ;). 60 days left for you guys! It's all worth it- even when it hurts to roll over in bed in the middle of the night. 9 days until we're due, so keep an eye on our blog. :)
OK, the comment on the last post was supposed to be for this post. But . . . I have to agree that your pictures are great and I'm glad you did it before the baby, because next time you go you'll be thinking of all the things that would be fun for kids and not get to go to the National Archives building even though that was the only thing you truly wanted to see but instead you went to the Natural History museum to see all the animals and the you went to the zoo to see even more animals and then you had to go see all the airplanes in the Air and Space museum. . . wait, this was all ME on our last trip!!!
But . . .it is fun with kids too!!!

I want to say something that has been bothering me for a little while...You guys do know that a HONEYmoon comes after the wedding. So wouldn't a BABYmoon come after the baby?
